Yes, it's been 6 or so weeks since I was bored and created my blog, thinking that it was a good idea and that I would really want to write in it when I got bored. I am still correct, this is a good idea, I was just burdened with a bunch of school stuff, on top of internship stuff, and of course, all around my amazing laziness. This leads way to what I call, my 'new era.' I scored an Internship with Boeing for the next 6 months which will officially start tomorrow. I just moved into my new place in Auburn, WA last Monday, and am finally getting used to the new environment and what not. My apartment is coming together, though brutal sufferings, but everything has settled down and is looking forward.
Boeing. Kind of an awesome opportunity that doesn't need much explanation. For those who don't know, I actually never applied to Boeing directly, I'm in a program at OSU that gives me two six-month internships during my last two years of college. How this works is I get interviewed shortly by 20-25 different company representatives which may last 15 minutes at most. The other MECOP students do the same, and I don't know the amount of students in the entire program, there is probably 100 or so in the field of mechanical engineering. after all the interviews take place, the company reps pick and choose who they want their interns to be, kind of like an auction. Of all the companies, I was 'lucky' enough to have Boeing choose me, along with about 15 other MECOPs. This was a real blessing for me because I really wanted to go to Boeing (everyone dreams of getting to go to either Boeing or Intel), and i really wanted to move out of state to experience something new.
Here's the kicker about this whole deal (something I learned just a few days after finding out I was going to Boeing), my worship pastor at my church announced he accepted a job as a worship pastor at a church in Auburn, WA. I immediately checked online to see where his church was, and it turns out, the church he moved to is maybe 5 minutes from the Boeing facility I will be working at! God really works in funny ways sometimes. It was my goal that when I moved to my new internship that I would find a church and go every week, something I didn't do when I was in Portland at my previous internship. This is an answered prayer for me because I get to go to a new church where I already know one person.
The next hurdle was finding a roommate. There was only one other person going to the Auburn plant, and he was a business major and has a project management job. My first instinct was, 'na, he's not a ME, so I won't be a good fit for his roommate.' But, luckily he had more confidence than me and we starting talking and eventually met up for coffee. Turns out, this dude is a christian, plays the guitar, golfs, and has the same kind of chill attitude I do. Another blessing on me. Right now we're chillin' on our deck, smoking cigars, and he's playing a song he wrote. Some guys on horses just strolled by, followed by a biker gang with decked out crotch rockets, fitted with neon and everything. So here's another instance where God was looking out for me and really answering my 'thoughts and concerns' because I have gotten away from prayer and a sincere love for the Lord.
This brings me to the detail of my new 'short-lived' era. My goal is to go to church, get involved, make friends, and have a good time where ever possible. God has set me up so well, and blessed me so much, and now it's my turn to show Him that I can turn it around and bring Him the joy He has given to me. I hope the next 6 months won't end as a 'camp high' and I will be able to continue my new era and make the era not short-lived, but a long, fulfilling continuation of my blessings.
I'm Matt, and I'm an engineer. This blog serves to complain and rant at stuff for the most part, but sometimes to just freely write what I'm thinking at any given time. My writing is probably on par with a 3rd grader, as well as my grammer, spelling, and especially proofreading. You're reading this at your own risk. If you dare to continue, you will read stuff that won't make sense, that may offend, but may also humor you. Read with an open mind, and be wary of sarcasm.
Quick, non-post worthy comments.
-Notice that the lightning strikes right on 'Blog' in my title. I wish I could say I did this on purpose.
